Standing, Baby Shower, First Tooth & Cousin Finley

Week 48

I don't know why I am almost 2 weeks behind - but I am.  2 Fridays ago started week 48 on a bad note.  Not for Ty, but our family in general.  Our appraisal came back ridiculously low - so low in fact that I laughed on the phone when I heard it.  Nothing about our house was under par, the report just stated that houses in our area have plummeted in value.  So we owe more than our house is technically worth right now (which is bogus) - so we can not refinance.  The sad thing is that we have lost $63,000 in 6 years.  What a great investment, huh?  We are disappointed and trying to figure out our long-term goals.  One Ty-related thing that happened on that Friday is that Ty became so obsessed with the Roomba, that I had to hide it on him.  The day consisted of Ty pushing the start button on the Roomba and then running away crying every time it started to chase him.  This happened over and over and over again!  What a rascal!

Turning it on... over and over again!

2 Sabbaths ago we headed to Concord church for the Righteousness By Faith Rally.  Shawn was speaking there and we were very excited to see him!  We made it for part of Sabbath School and all Tyson wanted to do was play with a basket of pine cones and continually dump them out!  For church we went downstairs and joined the Youth church so we could hear Shawn preach.  Well, Heath and I heard him - Tyson took his nap in Daddy's arms!  We stayed for potluck and then headed home to pack up and head to Conway.  We finally got to see Devin & Leigh's new house!  It is gorgeous!  I can't believe that I didn't think to take any pictures - sorry about that!  Ty went crazy when he saw Leigh and Mia and did his trademark screeching!  He screeched some more when he saw the fish in their fish tank.  He loved the fish so much!  Well, Devin grilled for us and we had a late supper at about 10 pm!  Ty had to sleep before that - so I rocked him in his cousin-to-be's nursery and then laid him on the floor.  I think Devin and Leigh were psyched that they got to try out their baby monitor!

Excited to see his cousin Mia

Then on Sunday, I spent the morning getting ready for Leigh & Shannon's baby shower.  Heath and Ty went apple-picking with his parents.  I was bummed - I really wanted to go with them, but I had a lot to do... so they went and Heath took pictures for me!  (Which I haven't gotten yet - sorry again!!!!)  Ty loved the apple orchard and stood by himself for the first time there!!!!  I had to miss two firsts that day!  So that was a bummer - but exciting that Ty is standing now without help!  While all the standing was going on, the girls were having a great shower at Aunt Amelda's house.  At the end of the shower, the boys (Sean, Devin, Heath & Ty) came over and Ty just loves to be the life of the party.  But at the same time, he started having a temper tantrum.  Over what I can't remember - I'm sure I took something away that he shouldn't have had - and he just went crazy.  I took him away from the group and gave him a talking to... but of course he had another one a few minutes later.  The funniest thing in the world happened next!  I was lamenting to my mother about what am I supposed to do when my 11 month old is throwing a tantrum - when she picked him up and said, "This is what you are supposed to do."  She had Tyson look at her and said, "Tyson.  Listen to me.  You can't do that."  And then Tyson slapped her right in the face!  We all busted up laughing - of course that was the wrong thing to to do, but it was so funny!  She was so serious trying to show me what to do and Tyson ended that right then and there!  So the shower went great and they got some wonderful things.  I was busy during the shower and didn't take ANY pictures - I just took a few when Ty came over!  How horrible!  After the shower, we headed back to my parents, packed up, and headed home.  We got home and Shawn came over to spend the night, since he had been in Keene shooting a wedding that day.  Shawn & I stayed up watching the Patriots lose to the Bills, which was ridiculous.

Happy with Uncle Devin

Happy during his "time out" in the chair (=

Aunt Amelda gave Dev a train set that she had bought from him when he was young!  He had sold her his train set for money, so he could buy new toys!!!! (=

On Monday Ty and I went couponing and killed.  I made money on an energy bar and got free body wash and contact solution.  With previous pharmacy money and getting new pharmacy money - I got $122.85 worth of things and THEY PAID ME $8.59!  The rest of the day we spent unpacking from the weekend.  I worked on standing with Tyson and he would do it for a few seconds before putting himself down to crawl.  It was so cute, when Heath got home from work Ty screeched "Dada!" and then booked it to the front door to Daddy crawling as fast as he could go!!!!  It was adorable!

Our loot - not as impressive as Corey's, though!

On Tuesday we were going to go to the library group, but Shannon was feeling more crampy than usual - so I started to get concerned that she was going to go into labor.  I realized that not only did Shannon need to have her bag packed, but I needed to have bags packed for Ty and I.  So I got that done but it was a false alarm.  Ty & I met up with mom at the diner for lunch and that is where I figured out that Ty actually had a tooth on his bottom gum!  I hadn't felt his gums for about a week and he hadn't been acting fussy at all - so I had no idea!  Thank goodness his teeth are finally coming in.  I was really getting concerned that I would have to get baby dentures for Ty!!!! No more worrying for me!  On Tuesday night I made Alpine Chicken casserole and gave part of it to Ty.  It had so many chunks to it and he gobbled it right down without any problems.  But then I gave him some mashed potatoes and he got 1 little chunk of potato and he proceeded to puke 4 times!!!!  Oh my.  Ty was up at 4 AM and I had taken Benadryl for allergies, so I did not have it in me to fight with him to sleep in his own bed!

Donning the diner hat

On Wednesday I worked and my dumpster diving was a bust because too many people were around.  So that was disappointing.  What else was disappointing was Tyson up crying every hour.  Not really sure what was going on.  He did seem to have a bit of a runny nose - teething or a cold?  I wasn't sure.

Last Thursday was a big day.  I awoke to a phone call from Shannon at about 8 AM saying that she thought she was in labor.  So much for my bags being packed, there was still about a million more things to get (Tyson's food, my toiletries etc...)  But I finally got everything together and went to head out the door to Conway false-alarm or not.  However, I realized with dread that I did not have our car seat.  Heath had taken it to go to Home Depot the night before and went to work with it.  He has never done that before and it just had to be the day that Shannon was in labor!!!!  I couldn't reach him because he was teaching a class.  I kept trying to reach him, hoping that he could bring it home on his lunch break.  But then Shannon called and said that the contractions were getting worse.  That did it.  I went to the basement and got our big car seat for when Ty gets older and got out the instruction book and attempted to install it.  I did it - not really sure how safe it was... but I did it!  Then Ty and I went to Vutek and switched it out for the regular one.  Heath called me not too long after, very apologetic - I had called him 12 times but he had been in a meeting during lunchtime and had left his phone in the classroom.  When I got to the house, Shannon was doing great.  Leigh had come over and checked her and she was at 2 cm at about 3 PM.  She was a bit discouraged about that, but we cheered her on.  At about 6:30, Leigh checked her again and she was at 4 cm.  Because Shannon needed IV antibiotics (she was Group Strep B positive), she needed to go to the hospital.  It was perfect timing that Heath got there just then- so he could take care of Ty while I went to the hospital.  Heath was coming to spend the night there and go to work from Conway the next day.  Anyways, Shannon got to the hospital at about 7 PM and had her beautiful daughter, Finley Mae at 1:47 AM!!!!  Pretty quick labor for her first baby and she only pushed for 45 minutes!  I was so proud of Shannon.  You would have never known she was in labor all the way up to 7 cm - she was so stoic!!!!  Then "transition" hit and that was a different animal.  Shannon did not have an epidural - she was incredible.  It was amazing to see your niece get born, but it was difficult to see my sister in such pain.  But what a trouper!  It was pretty neat that both Shannon & I had our babies on Fridays.  And then, Tyson was born at 1:48 PM and Finley was born at 1:47 AM!!!  I tried to get Leigh to change Finley's time of birth to 1 minute longer, but it didn't work!!!!  6 pounds 12 oz and 19.5 inches!  She's perfect, just adorable and Shannon and Sean are doing great as parents.  Very natural.  They will be great!  So glad that they live close to us right now!

Trying to ease Shannon's contractions with a joyful song!

Just getting to the hospital

Devin was working down in the ED, but spent a lot of time with Shan during her labor and was behind the curtain listening when Finley was born (with my father)

So natural (=

OK... I've rattled on enough now!  Have a great week!  Some more random shots of Ty!

He did this all by himself - standing in his toy basket to reach a picture!

What a good boy!
