Another Head Injury With Passing Out, Fishing Derby, Knows Some Body Parts, New Stroller, FL Memorial Trip, Wes Started GI Epidemic, 1st Plane Ride, Magic Kingdom Rain Out, Defiling Sea World & Saying Goodbye to Papa

Wes:  1 Year & 3 Months Old
Ty:  3 Years & 4 Months Old

FRIDAY

-  During my lunch time I was watching the Bruins game from the night before and Ty was watching half of the time with me.  He looked up and said, “Devin plays hockey.”  That is true, but it was funny because how did he know that?  We have never seen Devin play – I guess from us talking about it, but it’s not like we have talked about it all that much.  And then he said, “Ty play hockey when Ty gets big.  Go skiing too.”  I thought that was so cute!

-  Ty made history by having 2 head injuries 2 Fridays in a row.  He had been kneeling on one of our bar stools rinsing dishes, when he lost his balance and fell onto the hardwood floor, hitting his head hard.  I scooped him right up and he was crying, but he held his breath…until he passed out.  That was a tough moment.  It was awful.  Reeses came over and licked his face and that is what woke him up and it freaked him out!  I knew he was OK when he asked (again, 2 weeks in a row) to watch “Frosty the Snowman!”

He said the top of his head hurt - so bring on the peas!

SABBATH

-  Wes knows his head, nose and belly now.  He especially loves hitting his head when we ask him where his head is!

-  I brought Ty to meet Heath, Adam & Keith at noon for the fishing derby on Lake Winnipesaukee.  Heath left at 4 AM, which was just a tad early for Ty to get up!  Ty had a blast as usual, but they caught hardly any fish at all.

-  Wes and I had a fun day together, but Jesus saved Westy by giving me superhuman reflexes.  I was sitting on the couch, when Wes grabbed the end table next to me and it tipped and started to fall.  Wes had fallen to the ground with that and the table was going to nail him – HARD.  I don’t know how I was able to, but right before it nailed his head – I was able to grab it at the last second.  Praise the Lord!

SUNDAY

-  Ty didn’t go fishing the next day during the derby since it was going to be cold without any sun.  I packed both boys up and we left to go shopping for the day.  First we went about an hour south to meet someone at a public place to get a new stroller.  This was my first Craigslist purchase by myself and the stroller was in mint condition, so I was psyched!  It is a Maclaren and this model costs $270 new and I paid $50!  Yes!  I don’t know what came over me, but I went to 8 stops with the boys – including Goodwill and Taco Bell.  I don’t think I have ever taken both boys to a restaurant (even a fast food one) by myself before, but it went surprisingly well.

MONDAY

-  Laundry Day & Packing Day at the Edwards’ house.  We were getting ready to go to Florida for my Papa’s memorial service and mini family vacation.  We went out to eat with Adam & Sonia for supper at the Mexican restaurant and Adam took the puppies home with him to watch while we were gone.

TUESDAY

-  We had to get up at 4 AM and leave by 5 AM, to make our 7 AM flight to Orlando.  The trip started off with a bang when Westin projectile vomited a ton all over himself & me while in his car seat.  I was hoping that it was from being up too early, drinking some of his bottle too early, etc…but that proved to be untrue in a major way.  He had gotten some virus, probably from sucking on the Goodwill cart on Sunday (yes, I caught him doing that).  This was his first plane ride and he was surprisingly good.  He took a nap in my arms, which I was surprised at – but now looking back, it was probably because he was sick.  All in all, he vomited about 6 times over a 6 hour period, including all over Heath on the plane.  Ty was great on the plane, since he had the iPad to keep him entertained.

-  We met my parents and Devin & Leigh & clan at Sweet Tomatoes for lunch and then went to our rental house to unpack.  Shannon & Sean’s flight was delayed and they didn’t get in until 10 PM.  Ty & Wes slept together in a Disney “Cars” room, which Ty was excited about.  They were in a room across from us, so it was very handy.  They did great together, as usual.

WEDNESDAY

-  Bode was the next one to get the GI bug and he had been up puking a few times during the night and threw up in the car on the way to the Magic Kingdom.  That was not magical.  He didn’t vomit the rest of the day, so that was an improvement.  We all had a blast together and it wasn’t busy.  But our day came to a premature halt at 6 PM when severe weather came upon us and the torrential rains started.  We were on the railroad when it happened and there was lightning, so they had to kick us off the train and we got so incredibly soaked.  We decided we had to leave, since the kids were drenched as well.  Disappointing, but what can you do?  We got Chinese take-out and called it a day.

Wes was scared of the carousel at first but then ended up loving it and giggling most of the time!

Ty loved the Barnstormer kiddie roller coaster - I rode in front of them just to look back and watch Ty's face!

THURSDAY

-  We went to Sea World with the Grodacks and Bill & Melanie.  We had a great morning and we were having a great time, until…Ty fell prey to the GI bug in the middle of the kiddie area.  He had just eaten lunch and then said, “My tummy don’t feel good.”  So I thought he had to poop, so Heath took him to the bathroom and he did go.  But then he made the comment again, right before he vomited a huge amount.  We cleaned him up and he took a nap in Heath’s arms for awhile and then we tried to continue on.  But he vomited again all over the ground at Sea World and we said enough was enough and we went home at about 3 PM.  So Ty has now defiled both Sea World & Busch Gardens – from both ends!!!!  Poor bugger.  We had a left-over barf bag from Westin’s episodes and we showed Ty how to use it and he did use it 2 more times on the car ride home perfectly all by himself!  He vomited 7 times total and his last time was about 9 PM.  My poor baby.  It was so awful to see him so miserable.  I cuddled in bed with him all afternoon, watching cartoons.

FRIDAY

-  Ty was better in the AM and was able to have Pedialyte & popsicles.  We drove to Avon Park to have a graveside service to bury Papa’s ashes.  On the way to the service, Bode vomited again in the car, all over his clothes.  He had had 24 hours of no vomiting, so that was an unpleasant surprise.  The service was very nice, but very hard, of course.  My Uncle Tim (my dad’s brother) was there and literally it is the 3rd time I have seen him in my life – he lives in Washington State.  It was very nice to see him, though.  After the service, we went to Homer’s, a buffet restaurant that was Papa’s favorite.  After that, we went to Nanny & Papa’s house and visited for awhile and then we ran to the church to have Ty, Finley & Bode practice their song for the memorial.  It was kind of a disaster, but what do you expect with 2 & 3 year olds?

-  As soon as we pulled into our rental house, Heath ran to the bushes and the GI bug claimed another victim.  He proceeded to vomit about every hour for the next 8 hours.  It was just terrible – you feel so helpless.

SABBATH

-  Heath was better in the AM, but we skipped church and he slept until 10 AM.  Ty was exhausted and came out for a bit of breakfast but then said he was tired and climbed into bed with Heath and slept for a couple more hours.  He was exhausted!  We made it for the end of potluck (Heath didn’t eat) and then we had the service.  It was a beautiful service and the slideshow that I had worked so hard on came out well, despite some hiccups on the music transitions.  I did not know how to fade the music in and out and Heath was supposed to help me with it the night before, but he was obviously not in any shape to do so.  So I just tried to figure it out on my own and was happy that I had done it myself, even if it wasn’t perfect.  It was a hard day to get through, but it was a long time coming.  We needed to say good-bye.

-  Saturday night, the GI bug claimed Finley, Shannon, Sean & my dad.  Rough night for them.  This bug was brutal.

Sorry about the terrible videoing, I was trying to watch them

SUNDAY

-  Mia got the bug the next day and my mom & I both felt terrible, but we did not vomit.  We left Florida on the 9:50 AM flight with the Frosts.  Shannon & Sean both made the flight without episodes, but there were close calls!  Westin showed how sick he really did feel on the flight down when he was absolutely horrible on the entire flight home.  Terrible screaming despite us giving him toys, food, drink, walking around, iPad etc… He just wants to get up and go nonstop.  It was so embarrassing.  I am really dreading our flights to Texas when we go on our cruise next week.

-  We did grocery shopping on the way home and then crashed and relaxed when we got home.  Well, except the boys, who played very hard until bedtime…but they had to be exhausted themselves because they were the whiniest kids ever.

Have a great couple of weeks!  I probably won’t be able to post in a couple of weeks because of the cruise!

1st Spanking from Noni, Eyebrow Injury, Wes Loves the Slide, "Tee-Tee," Great Super Bowl, Wanting to Feed Himself, Ate Pasta & "Nona & Papa"

Wes:  1 Year, 2 Months & 3 Weeks Old
Ty:  3 Years, 3 Months & 3 Weeks Old

FRIDAY
- We woke up to no heat in our house.  Our oil had run out, which has never happened before.  Thank goodness they were able to come and fill us by the afternoon.  It didn’t get below 60 degrees, at least.

-  Shannon & the kids came over in the AM before I had to leave for a mandatory staff meeting.  Mom was coming to babysit again.  Mom told me that Tyson’s behavior was terrible.  He got multiple time-outs and she actually spanked him for the first time.  I can’t believe that one.  I can’t remember what he did, but it had to be pretty bad for that to happen.

- While I was cooking supper, Ty was “cooking” with his kitchen set.  He had pulled it away from the wall and was messing around, when it pitched forward…hitting him and pushing him into our end table.  He just missed hitting his right eye directly, which could have been really bad.  But he hit his eyebrow hard and it swelled and bruised up right away.  I should have gotten a picture of it, but I didn’t.  I knew he was OK when I was holding him, comforting him, and he looked up at me and said, “Mama, Ty need to watch ‘Frosty the Snowman.’  That will make me eye feel better.”  Even though it was Friday night, I put it on for a little bit (we have it on our DVR) and it calmed him right down.

My mom had a headache Friday afternoon...so I had to forgive her when she said, "Yeah, sorry about the mess!"

Wes discovered his love of the slide on Friday night.  I had to move the slide against the chair since Wes has fallen backwards off the back of it a couple of times!

SABBATH
-  We went to Laconia church, otherwise we didn’t do much all day.

-  Wes is calling Ty “Tee.”  It is so cute!  And if we call him, “Ty-Ty” then Wes calls him “Tee-tee!”  It just cracks me up!

He was still obsessed with the slide on Sabbath

SUNDAY
-  Heath & Ty went ice-fishing in Maine with Keith, Sonia & Joel.  Ty had a blast as usual.  He got exhausted in the afternoon since he had gotten up to leave at 5 AM.  Heath laid him down on a chair in the ice house and he passed right out!  Unfortunately, he slept so hard that he peed…and was super upset about that when he woke up.  But Heath came prepared and got him all changed up.

-  While the older boys fished, my younger boy and I shopped.  We went to a record 11 stores (pharmacies, grocery store, Kohl’s, Walmart, some outlet stores, etc).  Wes was such a trooper.  We got home 5 minutes after the Super Bowl had started and my parents were already there.  They came for most of the game – left at the beginning of the 4th quarter.  I heard the now infamous missed snap on the radio and thought maybe, just maybe, the game would go the way I wanted.  And did it ever!  I did feel bad for Peyton, but at the end of the day, Brady has 3 rings and Peyton only has 1.  Priceless.

They caught a ton of fish and Ty pulled them all out himself!

Exhausted!

I love that you can hear Peyton's interception on this video!  Well, my dad's play-by-play that is!

MONDAY
-  I couldn’t understand why Westin was screaming at me during lunch, until I figured out it was because he wanted to eat his corn dog pieces with a fork.  And he insisted on feeding himself.  This is becoming a regular occurrence now.  He is doing very well with it!

-  A more exciting event happened at supper in my opinion.  Westin ate pasta!!!!  I had made American Chop Suey and Wes devoured it.  I have always continued to offer pasta to him and it finally paid off!  Hopefully it is not a fluke, but we haven’t had pasta again, so I’m not sure.

"I think I can..."

"Almost there..."

"Made it!"

Very happy with himself

Pasta all over his face!

TUESDAY
-  My morning on Tuesday was ridiculous.  It was like a movie, but you can’t write stuff like this.  Just a background…I was trying to get the kids out the door to meet Shannon & my parents in Concord for some shopping.  We were just about all ready to go, so I let the dogs outside to do their business, while I heated up Westin’s milk and put it in a thermos.  For some reason, I didn’t have the top on right and I leaked milk all over the place from my kitchen to my front door, where I was going to check on the dogs.  So that was great – I had to clean up all of that.  Then Reeses did not come back.  Literally she has never done this before.  She was outside for like 15 minutes and no matter what I did and how much I called her, she would not come in.  I had to go out in the snow, walking in the woods calling for her.  I started freaking out because Heath said that he had seen coyote tracks behind our house again, so I thought the coyote had gotten her…because she never does this!  But she finally waltzed over the snow bank and came in.  So I was about ready to kill her.  Then all we had left to do was put Ty’s shoes on, but we could only find 1 shoe.  Then I had to search the whole house looking for his sneaker (he literally has 1 pair of shoes that fit him right now) and finally found it, hidden underneath the dresser in my room (Westin must have hid it).  As I finally put the shoe on Ty’s foot, and had my back turned…Westin dumped the dog water out on the floor!!!!  He got soaked so I had to give him a complete outfit change.  Are you kidding me?

-  Fun shopping at the mall, Burger King for lunch, and then Goodwill.  Westin started saying his versions of my parents names – “Nona” and “Papa.”  Super cute.

In heaven with their Noni!

WEDNESDAY
-  Big snow storm all day – we got about a foot of snow.  When Heath got home we went to the Mexican restaurant, just the 4 of us and then to our brand new Super Walmart.  Late night and the boys didn’t get to bed until about 10:30 PM.

THURSDAY
-  I worked and didn’t get home until after 5 AM, after a busy, draining shift.  The boys had a great day with Noni and then had a great night with Adam & Sonia, who came over to visit.  They got Chinese food take-out.  Lucky ducks.  Another very late bedtime.

Have a great week!
