Birthday Parties, Trying For a Kiss, Tyson is 3 Years Old, "Uh-oh", Toy Overhaul, Sick Again, Pointing & Real Separation Anxiety?

Wes:  11 Months Old
Ty:  3 YEARS OLD!!!!!!

Last week I didn’t have 1 video to post.  This week I have too many.  Sorry, it was Tyson’s birthday this week.  Hopefully the videos are actually cute and I don’t just think they are cute because I am Tyson’s mother.

Last Friday, we had a busy day!  We got up early to go to Conway for Mia & Bode's double birthday party!  When we started our trek, we stopped at the fire department to get a fire permit for Tyson's birthday party the next day.  I was retarded and I had left my phone in the car, because the fireman put Tyson up in the fire engine.  You would think that Ty would have gone crazy, but it was Westin that was loudly "talking" to the fireman and Tyson was completely clammed up.  He is shy around people he doesn't know...just like his mom!  After the fire department, we went to the Fairway and picked up my mom.  We then drove to Conway and met Shannon & kids at Burger King for lunch.  My mother & sister are obsessed with Burger King.  I don't know what to do with them.  The kids had a nice rambunctious time, but at least it is Burger King...so I didn't mind them making a bit of noise.  We went to a couple of shops after that and then went to the party.  It was a train-themed party, since Bode is obsessed with Thomas the Train.  The kids had such a great time playing together.  Something that was so funny happened when Tyson was saying goodbye to everyone.  He climbed onto Mia's lap, who was sitting on a chair.  He cupped her face in his hands and then tried his hardest to kiss her on the lips!  It was funniest thing.  She kept moving her face to avoid the lip-on-lip contact and he would keep moving to try to get at those lips!  It was so cute!  He finally settled on a cheek peek, much to his disappointment!

On Sabbath, we headed to Laconia for Sabbath School and church.  The Frosts met us there at church.  During church, I had Ty & Finley playing by me when I looked out the window and saw a cat, crouched down, hunting something.  I showed Ty & Fin and right at that moment the cat pounced and got it's prey!  It looked like a mole or something.  Pretty neat moment.  You never get to see something like that!  I did think that the kids could be freaked out about it, but they weren't!  After church we went home, had lunch, attempted to nap some kids (I think Westin was the lone napper), and then got going on Tyson’s Donald Duck birthday cake.  We asked Ty what type of cake he wanted (we knew what he was going to say) and Donald Duck it was!  Right after sundown, we had our “guests” arrive!  We just had family come – we had debated having his Sabbath School friends come, but we decided that 16 of us was enough!  We started by having a bonfire outside, had everyone bring their camping chairs, and we cooked sandwiches in the fire and ate outside.  We were really lucky that it was a mild night and we were able to do this!  After supper, we headed back inside and had presents and cake.  Ty had been waiting for this night for so long and he just had a blast!  He has great family members and got wonderful presents.  His present from us was a kitchen set.  It is at least a manly-colored one.  This exact same kitchen set is at the Conway church and he goes nuts for it every time we are there.  We have to drag him off of it.  For as much as he loves to help us cook in the kitchen, we felt we had to get one for him.  It is very expensive, so it is actually both for Westin & Tyson’s birthdays.  I can not believe my boy is 3 years old!  Well, officially he is not 3 until Tuesday, but that is just a technicality.  My little baby is really a big boy now!

Sunday I worked which was the downside, but the upside was that I left about an hour early for my shift and hit up the pharmacies completely alone!  There is nothing sweeter.  The boys had a good day, went to the Edwards’ house for the afternoon to hang out and then went for supper at the Pizza Barn.

On Monday I had one of the biggest messes in a long time to clean up.  Since I had to work the day after Ty’s party, I was not able to clean up the day before.  I had all the party mess and presents to deal with.  I spent the entire day and night, up until 3 AM, picking up and cleaning.  What a mess.  My family had big news on Monday.  My grandparents are coming up from Florida to live with my parents.  My grandfather is not doing well and he wants to be up here near all of us.  My grandmother did not want to leave Florida, but my grandfather is getting to be too much for her to handle, so they are coming up!

Wes didn't get the memo about me CLEANING up the messes!

On Tuesday our highlights were Laundry Day and Tyson refused to take a nap.  I wonder if he decided that since it was his official 3rd birthday that he was now over naps.  What is the deal?  I figured something so cute out with Westin.  He has started to say, “uh-oh!”  It is the cutest thing.  He says it, like he is singing it!  He is saying it at appropriate times too!  If he drops something, he says it.  He will imitate us too, so I can get him going with “uh-oh’s” if I start them off!  I love it!  I spent all my free time Tuesday night doing a complete toy overhaul.  I went through every single toy we had and if Ty hasn’t touched it in months, it was gone.  I don’t know if I will totally get rid of them, but I probably will.  I had to make room for all the new toys and especially the kitchen set, which takes up considerable space.  Can you believe that I got rid of 2 large garbage bags of toys, plus a couple of big items that wouldn’t fit.  The sad thing is that if you look at my family room – you can’t tell at all.  That is disappointing to say the least.  It was still a good feeling, though, to get rid of things!

On Wednesday I had to work 11am-11pm.  I wasn’t happy about the shift, since I had to leave the boys much earlier, and it stunk for my mom to have to be there all day, too.  But it was the only hours I could get that week.  Before I left for work I figured out something horrible.  I couldn’t understand how Heath had never gotten sick with our cold that we had last week, but he started getting it on Tuesday.  Well, I figured out that it had to be a different strand of cold, because Tyson (and then myself and Wes later in the day) got it AGAIN!  There is no way that we would get the same exact cold again.  This has been ridiculous.  We were literally healthy for 4 days and then got sick again.  It was so sad.  Ty kept coughing so hard and then would say to Noni, “Ty didn’t sleep well last night.”  He didn’t nap again for Noni.  2 days in a row.  That started to make me nervous.  Speaking of nervousness, I was so bummed that I was working during Game 1 of the World Series.  The only good thing was that the hospital doesn’t have Fox (crazy, I know) so I didn’t hear too much talk about the game.  I watched the great win when I got home from work.  By the way, the hospital got Fox now, since enough patients complained.

Having fun with the play-doh set from the Frosts despite his sickness

On Thursday we got up pretty early and booked it to Ty’s 3 year appointment.  Everything went great.  His stats…

Weight:  29 lbs = 20th percentile
Height:  37 in = 30th percentile

He is staying right on course with what he has been all along.  Our doctor gave me some interesting information about binkies.  I told her, “You just have to tell me that I have to get rid of it and I will do it.”  She told me that yes, it can start to affect his baby teeth.  But the theory that it would affect his secondary teeth has been disproved.  So she said that it is not the end of the world and not to stress too much about it.  That does make me feel better.  I will make him give it up, but I wanted to wait until his naps are finished, unless he decides on his own.  Let’s just hope he does! We’ll see.  Ty was old enough to get the nasal spray flu vaccine, so that was cool.  We snuck in the first part of Westin’s flu shot – he is not old enough for the spray yet.  Wes was such a champ and whined initially after the shot but did not cry!  After the appointment, Ty pitched a fit and insisted on getting the bright pink Disney princess sticker when we left the office.  Oh my.  It was just the 4 of us for dinner on Thursday night and we went to the OG.  After the OG, Heath was walking around outside with the boys while I was in the bathroom, when Westin started pointing for the first time!  It was so stinking cute.  What was not cute was the horrific screaming that ensued that night when I tried to put Wes to sleep.  He normally goes down immediately without any drama, but he was down-right terrified to be by himself.  True separation anxiety?  I finally got him to sleep but it was a challenge.  I hope this does not continue.

Have a good week!

Poor Dogs, Lying, 1st Sippy Cup, Cousin Wedding, Light Switches, Feeding the Dogs, Clapping on Command & Coyote Visitor

Wes:  10 Months & 3 Weeks Old
Ty:  2 Years, 11 Months & 3 Weeks Old

Last Friday was a day at home.  Since we were so sick, we decided that we would not go up to the Edwards’ house for the weekend, which had been our plan.  Despite his sickness, it did not slow Tyson down at all.  I was in the kitchen and the boys were playing in the family room when I heard a horrible shriek coming from Reeses.  I booked it into the room to find Tyson pinching Reeses’ ears with his toy pliers.  My poor little doggie!  I gave Tyson a taste of what pliers to the ears actually felt like and then off to time-out he went.  Why do boys do this?  Then I am not happy to report that he has officially started lying.  He had a pee accident on this day and when I questioned him about it, he told me that it wasn’t pee, it was water.  NOT TRUE!  Basically, this kid lives in time-out.  At this point, I think he was tired of the time-outs and he tried his manipulating again.  He looked deep in my eyes again and said, “Ty loves you so much.”  I didn’t melt into a puddle of love this time!  I’m on to him!

Longingly watching Daddy mow the lawn on Friday
(it's tough for Ty when Heath mows the lawn after work - since Ty wants to play with him!)

On Sabbath we decided to stay home from church because we didn’t want to expose all of our Sabbath School friends to our colds.  We had been sick nearly a week – this was another doozy.  We did not do much at all during Sabbath – took naps and rested.  Then after sundown, we headed out to Kohl’s, Walmart, and then got Pizza Hut take-out, thanks to a coupon that I had.  I had forgotten to mention last week that I finally brought out a sippy cup for Westin!  He took right to it, without any problem, but he isn’t getting juice yet!  Just water!

Sunday was Heath’s cousin, Joel’s wedding day!   It was at 1:00 PM at the Conway church, so we left around 11:15 AM – figuring we had plenty of time to get there.  It usually only takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there, but it was Columbus Day Weekend…so we were expecting a bit of traffic, but it was ridiculous.  We were on-time, but we got there just before 1:00 PM!  It was a really nice wedding – we had a great time with all of Heath's family.  Joel is probably the cousin on Heath’s side that I am closest to.  We have taken 2 vacations together – he is special to us, so we are so happy that he found someone to share his life with!  He met his wife, Bethany, at the Conway church (she is from Massachusetts but her family has a place in North Conway and so she comes up frequently) and they hit it off right away.  They are very sweet together.  The only downside about the wedding was the reception location.  They had booked this beautiful barn on the Kancamagus Highway, but because it was on the White Mountain National Forest property...it was closed because of the government shutdown.  So they had no choice but to have the reception in the basement of the church.  They did a great job, but I felt so badly for them!  Stupid shutdown.  After the wedding/reception…we helped clean up a bit and then headed home.  We got home at about 8:30 PM and got the kids to bed.  Then I started the Red Sox and Patriots games.  Those were the 2 improbable comeback games and it was super exciting to watch!

On Monday we had a fun morning together, filled with Westin’s new obsession of turning on and off light switches and Ty “cooking” with his play-doh set.  Something else that made me laugh was Tyson, singing “Baa-Baa Black Sheep.”  I didn’t even know he knew that song, so I asked him, “Who taught you this song?”  His response?  “Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck!”  I laughed so hard at that one!  In the afternoon we went out to the pharmacies and Heath met us again at our last stop.  Then we all went to the Dollar Tree and got supplies for Tyson’s birthday party that was going to be the next Saturday night.

On Tuesday it became apparent that the dogs need to watch out, not only for Tyson, but for Westin now too.  Wes has found out the joys of torturing the dogs.  These are EXACTLY the things that Tyson used to do to them.  Wes loves to grab their dog bed and pull it off the couch and loves to grab their ears.  My poor sweet puppies.  I worked Tuesday night and Noni was here baby-sitting.  As I said, Tyson is very focused on his birthday right now.  He talks about it almost every day.  When he was outside with Noni, he made her open the trunk of her car because he thought there might be a birthday present for him in there!

Westin getting ready to pull the dog bed of the couch

Wednesday we stayed at home and I figured out that Westin is doing a few new things.  First of all, he has found out how to feed the dogs!  If he doesn’t like something on his highchair tray, he very quietly drops it on the floor and watches the dogs pounce on it!  Along the eating lines, he is “spitting” or blowing raspberries non-stop and always chooses to do it with a mouthful of food and nails me all the time!  He thinks it is a riot! Then he is really starting to follow commands!  We ask him, “Clap your hands!” and he does it!  So cute!

They are playing pretty well together lately

Thursday was a frustrating poop day.  Ty was at it again with the false alarms (about 10 times) and not wanting to go.  He wasn’t even constipated, so I don’t know what it was about.  Then Reeses had diarrhea and kept going on the carpet.  Why can’t she choose the hardwood floor?  We went grocery shopping and Ty kept saying one of his new phrases.  The phrase is “Ty like it.  Ty buy it!”  It is pretty cute!  We went to Mexican that night with Adam & my father (my mother was going to have a Colonoscopy the next day and she couldn't eat and was doing the prep at home).  When we got home, Adam went to leave and noticed a large animal right near his truck.  Heath & Adam went out there with flashlights (while Ty & I watched from the window) and we saw that it was a coyote.  I couldn’t believe it!  It looked just like a regular wolf – it was huge!  Since it was so dark out, none of my pictures came out.  We think there could be something wrong with it, because it didn’t want to leave no matter what we did – threw things near it, made noise, and shone a spotlight right in it’s face.  Finally, it left and it was neat to see it up close.  But that coyote is stalking our house, most likely for the puppies.  So we have to be majorly careful with the dogs and the kids.  Scary.

Have a great week!
