TV is Worth the Pain, Memorial Day Weekend @ Home, Eye-Poking, Lost a House, Already a Chef & More Camper Shopping

Wes:  1 Year, 6 Months & 2 Weeks Old
Ty:  3 Years, 7 Months & 2 Weeks Old

May 23 - 29

Last Friday was our grocery day and not too much else.  We weren't going anywhere for Memorial Day weekend, so the kids and I just stayed on our usual schedule.  A couple of funny things happened with Tyson, while Westin was napping.  First of all, Ty continues to come up with some really creative things when he plays.  He dumped over our end table, and flipped our laundry basket upside-down and put it on the top and said, "I made a dog crate!"  He was right, it did look like a dog crate!  He realized quickly that the dogs would easily escape his crate and tried to put pillows in front of it to block "the door!"  Then he wanted to test it out and tried (in vain) to get the dogs to go in his crate!  He even stole Snicker's prized possession (her bow, which we call "bowie") and threw it in the "crate" to try to entice her and said, "See Snickers!  Bowie is in your crate!  Go in!"  It didn't work.  What also didn't work was when Ty started whining that he wanted to watch TV.  I told him that it was playing time and that watching TV was not going to happen. I could tell that he wanted to chill out, so I offered to make him a "bed" on the couch for him to rest.  He went for that, but then a lightbulb went off in his head.  He said, "Mama, you made me a bed like this before.  When I fell in the kitchen and hurt my head.  You put "Frosty the Snowman" on!"  I agreed that this indeed happened, but that he was not hurt and I was not putting on the TV.  I could not believe what he did next.  He got up, walked over to the end table (now upright) and banged the side of his head on the end table on purpose!!!!  Then he faked cried, "Ow!  I hurt myself.  I need "Frosty the Snowman!"  I could not believe it.  He still did not get it, but I definitely got a good giggle out of that one.  I have bred another TV addict, for sure.
The "dog crate"

Oh yeah - we all did go to Walmart with Heath before sundown.  Tyson was very hyper - and kept talking about his penny, but right after I put down the phone after videoing him, I realized his "penny" was a nickel!

On Sabbath we had initially thought that we were going camping, but after still striking out with the campers...and calling for some rain on and off...we didn't go.  I still felt like playing hookie from church.  I know, I know, it is terrible, but sometimes I just do.  Speaking of lightbulbs, one finally came on for me just a bit ago.  I realized that for 13 years, I only went to church every other week, since I had to work every other weekend.  Now that I went per diem (1 year ago on Memorial Day, my anniversary) I hardly work any weekends at all (once every 6 weekends) and I go to church every week.  I am just not used to it!!!!  And once I am there, I am so happy to be there...but it is a mental thing for me to get gussied up, and get the boys gussied up and get us all out of the door so early in the AM on time.  My lazy side won on this day (and I was a bit bummed not to be with most of my family in Quebec for the weekend), and we stayed home.  In the afternoon, we drove to Warner and looked at a home that was a foreclosure that had just come on the market on Friday afternoon.  It was too good to be true.  On a dead end, deserted road...6 acres, on a river, with an orchard with apple & pear trees (that produce fruit), an old barn, and a very, small old house.  All of this for $99,000.  The house was probably going to be a throw-away...it was built in 1812 and was only 1 bedroom & 1 bath.  Our plan was to either tear it down & start over...or add-on to it, if there was anything to salvage.  We got right on this and asked for a showing, but knowing that it was a holiday weekend...it was not ideal.  I had a bad feeling that it was going to fall through our fingers.  It was perfect, just a dream location.  To be continued...
Eating blueberry muffins & watching the iPad on Saturday night - look at the crumbs!

Sunday and Monday we did exactly the same things.  Not much.  The boys (all of them) worked/played outside....planting the garden, doing outside things.  On Monday, Heath took both boys on errands to Home Depot, Tractor Supply etc... and I had a couple of hours to myself at home and that was heavenly!  I should have really made it count and run to the pharmacies by myself, but I didn't even have my lists done.  I cleaned instead.  Great times.  Monday afternoon, Kelly, Steve, Caleb, Jen & Rad stopped by for a quick visit on their way back home from Quebec.  It was great to see them all!  Jen is looking adorably pregnant and did I mention that they are having a boy?!!  Welcome to the club!  Can't wait for Levi to be born - that will be his name when he is born in October!  For supper on Monday the 4 of us went to the Mexican restaurant and the finished watching "Ratatouille" that we had started on Sunday night.  We had bought this movie for the boys for Christmas, but had not gotten around to watching it.  Both of them were so engrossed! It was adorable.

Working outside on Sunday

Ty found a toad and pulled it around in his sled!!!!

It's like Ty is saying, "Where should we go now, toad?"

Caleb & Ty playing

Great shot of Caleb...not of Wes!

The best I could get of the 2 of them - what is up with Westin's leg behind him?

The beginning of the video is Caleb's sheep sound - it is really good!

Tuesday it was back to work for Heath and for me as well!  I was so thankful to be back to my regular 3p-3a shift, after working 2 shorter shifts last week.  No thank you.  Noni came to babysit and it was great to see her - it had almost been 3 weeks since I have seen my parents!  (Actually as I am writing this....I still have not seen my father)  My new Pathophysiology class officially started on this day, but not that I did anything because of my working.  Noni said they had a good day, despite Westin consistently only sleeping 2 hours for her (when he sleeps 3-4 hours for me)!  He is too excited to sleep with Noni here!  Mom said that Tyson had poked Westin in the eye on purpose, when Wes was touching something that Tyson was working on.  She put him in time-out for that one.

I had been waiting for Wednesday for days.  Even though I was very tired from working, I got myself together and we were going to have a showing of the foreclosure house in Warner at 6 pm.  At 4:30 pm, I got a call from the realtor.  She said that she was so sorry  but that the seller had received an offer that she couldn't refuse and that she had signed a contract...and just like that, the house was gone.  I knew that it was going to happen.  I had a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach about it...and now I know why.  As much as I think that it could have been perfect, I know that God has the exact right house for us.  I just wish that he would show it to us!!!!  So that was a disappointment for sure.  Wednesday night, Ty provided us with some comic relief.  He was talking about the movie "Ratatouille" again and I asked him if he liked the movie, because he1 wanted to be a chef someday, like the rat in the movie.  Ty looked at me, very serious, and said, "I am already a chef, Mama."  I just about dropped the floor laughing!  He was so serious!  How dare I?!!!

Thursday was a busy day & very late night.  Ty had his swimming lessons and did great again.  He is still a bit stiff in the water but he is really improving!  His confidence is really improving too!  As we were driving down to the lesson, we were parked at a stoplight and Ty said, "Mama, why is there grass growing on that building?"  That made me chuckle and I tried to explain about ivy and other plants that grow on buildings.  But it was really cute.  After swimming lessons, we booked it to...where else?  To look at another camper!  It was a pop-up, very nice...everything that we would want in a pop-up, but both Heath & I are still questioning whether we want to buy a regular camper or the pop-up.  But I know what will happen.  We will lose the great pop-up when we are trying to figure it out!!!  Just another thing to fall through out fingers this week!!!  After that, we went to Bertucci's and called it a night.  We didn't get home until like 10:30 pm...are you kidding me?  At least the boys fell right asleep on the ride home!  Have a great week!
